Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
